This 30-minute radio documentary focused on the recent rebranding of Hydebank Young Offenders Institute in Belfast, Northern Ireland. In April 2015, it changed its name to “Hydebank Wood College,” in an attempt to become the United Kingdom’s first “high security college.” One year later, myself and two other journalists went inside. We wanted to know what made a high security college, and we wanted to know what happened to those that were sentenced to an education. This documentary is a story about change, unpredictable journeys, and self-perception.
