  • Created concept for a radio miniseries about the difficult relationship people often have with their hometowns
  • Currently recruiting participants by exploring my own network of contacts as well as others’ to gather a variety of experiences and ages
  • Producing, editing, and presenting the content and final product in conjunction with Lisburn 98FM

“From the Inside Out”, radio documentary
January 2016-May 2016

  • Co-produced as part of a 3-person team a 28-30 minute radio documentary about Hydebank Wood College, a former young offenders institute; required negotiating recording permissions with the prison
  • Managed the collection of audio interviews from various interviewees; transcribed and edited the interviews; edited the documentary including the final radio cut; co-wrote the presenter script
  • Exercised editorial judgment by choosing interviews that challenged common prison narratives and emphasized the personal stories of each person

“322 Miles”, radio documentary
November 2015-September 2016     

  • Sole producer, editor, and presenter; pioneered an innovative treatment that used the intimacy of radio to tell the literal and emotional true stories of Irish women travelling to England for an abortion
  • Forged lasting relationships with women who had travelled to England for abortions; required a balance of empathy and persuasiveness to ensure participation in the interviews
  • Collaborated with university sound editing department to improve audio cutting and mixing skills

“What is Consent?”, radio clip, Queen’s Radio

  • Developed and produced a 4-minute segment in partnership with BBC Northern Ireland on sexual consent education at Queen’s Universiy, Belfast
  • Defined focus in response to “consent classes” opening on universities across the UK and in partnership with executive producer; required a six-hour turnover from conception to finished product
  • Researching statistics from police reports, conducting vox pops, writing interview questions, presenting our segment, and editing the raw audio in the final cut
